This New Campaign Will Change the Way You Think About Pants

Take a quick peek into your closet. What are some of the wardrobe staples you wear most often? More likely than not, a pair of pants is somewhere on your list. Without question, we wear the comfortable and versatile piece just about anywhere, whether it's to the office or out to dinner. And while today, slipping into a pair of pants seems like an afterthought to most, in the past, women actually had to fight for their right to wear the "masculine" garment.

In the late 19th century, however, women began wearing trousers outside of their homes, though they were still limited to leisure activities—think horseback riding or bicycling. It wasn't until the '70s that pants were regarded as appropriate attire for women (outside of leisurely purposes, that is). Thus, the once male-only garment has a rich history linking back to women's rights and the fight for equality.

In honor of National Women's History Month this year, Ann Taylor launched a compelling new video campaign shining a light on this powerful historical relationship between women and pants. If you watch one thing today, make it this because it will certainly change the way you think about (and wear) your pants. Scroll down to see the new campaign video and then shop a few of our favorite styles from Ann Taylor.
